ECO ULTRA® Lubricants

Solutions for a Better Environment
High Quality Oil
Universal’s re-refinery produces “green” base oil from used automotive, industrial, heavy duty, and railroad engine oil. This base oil is then blended with superior additives to produce the ECO ULTRA® line of premium lubricants. ECO ULTRA® oils meet the latest API SN and ILSAC GF-5 specifications.
Good for the Environment
Universal’s re-refinery is one of only four such facilities in the United States. It uses 89% less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 36% in the production of its recycled lubricants versus similar products produced through traditional oil refineries. We help preserve the environment by reusing this valuable resource and help make the U.S. less dependent on foreign oil.

Now is the time to be thinking of all your Spring Cleaning. With the great weather we have been experiencing have you had a chance to turn on your air conditioner yet? If so, did you notice any musty smell or odor? The climate control system in your passenger cabin includes a filter element that helps remove dust, pollen, mold spores and other particulates from the air that you and your passengers are breathing. Most vehicles today are equipped with a Cabin Air Filter, which is located in either the glove box area or under the hood. Replacing the filter on an as needed basis will improve the air quality in your passenger compartment. When you are replacing the filter, ask about the Cabin Air Sanitizing Service as well. This service removes the dust, mold and mildew from the ventilation system.

Every time a vehicle’s driver presses the gas pedal, they are controlling how much fuel and air the engine takes in. The pedal tells the throttle valve how much air to let in and the computer tells the fuel system how much fuel to deliver. This careful mixture of air and fuel is ignited by the spark plug, producing a controlled burn that powers the vehicle.
The fuel filter is located on the line that brings fuel from the tank to the engine. The filter removes contaminants and particulates so fuel can flow to the the engine smoothly and without obstruction. A clean, unclogged fuel filter can help prevent reductions in engine performance. Check your owner’s manual for the appropriate maintenance schedule for your vehicle.
Jiffy Lube offers Fuel Filter Replacement on most cars. This service is completed in just minutes with no appointment needed. This month our Fuel Filter Replacement is on special–50% OFF! Stop by any of our convenient locations in Des Moines, Clive and Council Bluffs.

Annually the Car Care Council inspects vehicles in their “Check Lane” event conducted at hundreds of automotive service facilities in conjuction with National Car Care Month in April. They found that 84% of vehicles inspected at the free events needed some type of maintenance or repair. This was up from 73% in 2010. The issues they found were fluids related, either being low or dirty, ie: engine oil, transmission fluid, radiator fluid, power steering fluid. Also they inspected filters and found that 19% of vehicles were in need of a new air filter. 14% of the vehicles needed new wiper blades and 43% of the vehicles had at least one light bulb out.
These findings show me why it is so important to provide more than just an oil change. Several of the maintenance items needed are safety related, such as your lights and wiper blades. With our Signature Service Oil Change, we are inspecting all of these important components of your vehicle and letting our customers know our findings. We also are checking all critical fluids and your tire pressure. As part of the service, we review your manufacturer’s recommendations for preventative maintenance.
Our customers trust us to keep their vehicle on the road and out of the repair shop. We know that Jiffy Lube may be the only people inspecting your vehicle and that is why it is so important to perform a complete inspection of your vehicle every time we do the oil change. We know you’re busy, so let Jiffy Lube ease the unease of maintaining your vehicle.

It’s that time of year again, time to prepare for winter driving. What can you do to make sure your vehicle is ready for the winter and prepared for the holiday trips?
First of all, you want to check your owner’s manual for all your maintenance requirements. We recommend you follow the severe driving recommendations as we do have extreme colds during our winters. At Jiffy Lube, we will show you your vehicle’s manufacturer’s recommendations for all your maintenance needs, including the oil change. Besides changing the oil, you want to check all the other critical components of your vehicle. Make sure all your fluids are full, the filters (including air filter, cabin air filter and fuel filter if equipped) are clean, the tire pressure is set to the recommended pressure and the spare tire is properly inflated as well. Be sure to use the manufacturer’s recommended weight of oil.
Keeping the oil clean, the filters clean and the tires rotated and properly inflated will help you maximize your fuel efficiency. Jiffy Lube also provides many other services to help you get the most from your fuel economy. We have TX7, which is an additive installed once a year that will improve your engine’s performance. Please visit this website to read more about Polydyn’s TX7. http://www.polydyn.com/tx7.htm Jiffy Lube also offers Fuel System services that will improve the economy of your fuel purchases. Visit our site at: http://www.jiffylube.com/autoservices/fuelsystemservices.aspx to read more information.
And lastly, you want to make sure you have emergency essentials in your vehicle to be prepared. Some of those items include: flashlight and extra batteries, flares, shovel, ice scraper, blankets, bottled water and snacks.

Radiator Antifreeze/Coolant Service
The engine cooling system in your vehicle circulates antifreeze through the engine and radiator. The antifreeze is formulated to prevent corrosion inside the cooling system and helps to maintain optimal engine operating temperature regardless of outside conditions. Replacing the antifreeze at regular intervals can help prevent overheating, freezing and premature cooling-system corrosion.
The old antifreeze is removed from your radiator and replaced with new antifreeze per your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

Did you know that over that past three years the vehicles we service with over 75,000 miles has increased over 6%? From 2009 to 2011 the numbers increased from 48% to almost 55% and some stores in the midwest show almost 69% of the vehicles they service have over 75,000 miles.
While keeping our vehicles longer saves money on the payment side, we need to make sure we are saving on the repair side too! High Mileage oil is specifically formulated for vehicles with over 75,000 miles. This oil has conditioners that help soften and expand the seals and additional additives to help clean your motor. The benefits of using a high mileage oil versus conventional oil is the added cleaning you get to help remove deposits and sludge from your motor and the prevention of oil leaks by conditioning the seals.
